Telecom growth conference to take place next week
The Vietnam Telecom Growth Conference 2009 will be held in Hanoi on September 23-24 by the Vietnamese National Institute of Information and Communications Strategy (NIICS) and Frost &Sullivan.
Domestic and foreign experts will discuss current opportunities and future challenges for Vietnamese telecommunications.
Marc Einstein, Frost &Sullivan’s director of Information Communications and Technology (ICT) will present a report on Vietnam’s telecommunication market in comparison with other Asian markets, the impact of 3G technology on Vietnam, and what services Vietnamese Internet suppliers should launch to gain success.
Over the past few years, Vietnam has been one of the largest and fastest growing telecommunications markets in the Asia Pacific region. However, the sector still has untapped potential, as the number of mobile phone and broadband Internet users is quite low. Expansion of its 2G mobile-phone network, the debut of a 3G mobile-phone network, and implementation of WiMax will help the sector grow.
However, Vietnam’s telecommunications sector is facing a number of challenges: fierce competition in subscription fees and a need for more developed trademarks and new value added services.
