Petrolimex allowed to break Vinapaco’s jet fuel monopoly
Vietnam Airlines' Vinapco will no longer be Vietnam’s sole jet fuel provider as Petrolimex Jet Fuel Joint Stock Co. was granted a license by the aviation authority to sell jet fuel to airlines on Wednesday.
Lai Xuan Thanh, deputy head of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration (VCAA), said Petrolimex Jet Fuel was allowed to supply fuel to airplanes at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The total sale of jet fuel to both domestic and foreign airlines operating in the country exceeded 500,000 metric tons last year, with Vietnam Airlines accounting for 70 percent of the total, Dow Jones Newswires said Tuesday.
