Fertiliser export licenses to be withdrawn
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will revoke licenses to export fertiliser in late September or early October at the request of the Vietnam Fertiliser Association (VFA).
The VFA’s General Secretary, Nguyen Hac Thuy, said that currently the fertiliser market is adjusted in line with market economy mechanisms. Businesses produce and import fertiliser based on farmers’ demands and the Government controls it with its tax policy. In addition, Vietnam can supply half of the demand for Nitrogenous fertiliser and 100 percent of phosphate and NPK fertiliser. Therefore, export licenses are no longer appropriate and even cause difficulties to businesses trying to cope with price changes and market demands.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has agreed with the VFA’s proposal.
