EVN Telecom invests 3 trillion VND in 3G service
The EVN Telecom Company will invest nearly 3 trillion VND (166 million USD) to install 2,500 Node B base transceiver stations (BTS) nationwide, expected to serve 46 percent of the country’s population.
EVN Telecom Director Pham Duong Minh announced this at a ceremony to grant a 3G service licence to the company in Hanoi on September 23.
He said that the licence offers EVN Telecom an opportunity to realise its commitments to connecting the community to the most convenient services on a par with those provided in other regional countries and throughout the world.
The licence, valid until 2024, also lays the foundation for the company to build its network and provide the best-quality 3G mobile services in the coming time.
Speaking at the ceremony, Doan Quang Hoan, Head of the Radio Frequency Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, expressed his hope that EVN Telecom will join its partners to build a modern network, effectively use digital resources and provide 3G services with wide coverage, high quality and at low cost.
EVN Telecom is one of five 3G mobile service providers in the country. Together with its CDMA 450 network, the company has provided low-end services for people in rural and remote areas as well as modern services for urban residents.
