Australian retailer seeks Vietnamese partners

The Australian largest retailer Woolworths is seeking experienced Vietnamese suppliers for its supermarket chains Woolworths and Big W.

The group’s Business Development Manager Brian Newton said that the plan will be carried out through the Vietnamese trade mission in Australia .

Vietnamese trade councillor in Australia Nguyen Bao said that Woolworths’ proposal is a good opportunity for promoting exports and creating a firm position for Vietnamese goods in the Australian market, especially in major distribution systems.

In March this year, Woolworths’ senior business manager Mark Jones visited Vietnam and met with producers and businesses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to discuss direct purchase.

Woolworths’ stores receive about 13 million customers each week. Its total turnover climbed to 42 billion AUD (32 billion USD) last year.
