Jetstar, Accor offer free flights, rooms for HCMC passengers

Low-cost airline Jetstar Asia and French hotelier Accor have launched a promotion aiming to encourage more Vietnamese travelers to visit Singapore.

From August 3-11, customers who book Jetstar or Valuair flights to Singapore for travel between October 1 and November 25 from Ho Chi Minh City will receive a free return flight.

For every night paid for at Accor hotels – the new Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen, the Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel or the Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, Jetstar passengers will receive the second night’s stay for free during the promotional period.

Jin Chwen Ong, area director of the Singapore Tourism Board in Indochina, said the number of Vietnamese tourists to Singapore in the first six months of 2009 increased 13.4 percent from the same period last year.

But in June alone, Vietnamese arrivals only increased 3.2 percent year-on-year, he noted.
