Hanoi: CPI rises 0.47 percent in August

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in August rose 0.47 percent over the previous month, up more than 4 percent from a year earlier, according to Hanoi’s Statistics Department.

Most commodity groups saw an increase of between 1 and 2 percent, including housing, electricity, water, fuel, construction, transport, post and telecommunications, garments and textiles, and footwear. However, foodstuffs, drinks, and tobacco saw a decrease of nearly 1 percent.

According to experts from Hanoi’s Statistics Department, Hanoi’s economy has been sputtering back to life thanks to the government’s stimulus package and the city’s economic policies.
