Cam Ranh Airport to go international
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan to spend up to VND10.5 trillion (US$590 million) upgrading Cam Ranh Airport into an international facility, the government has said.
Under the plan, the airport, near the tourist resort town of Nha Trang, will be expanded to give it a capacity of 5.5 million passengers and 100,000 tons of cargo per year by 2020, said a report on the government's website.
By 2030 this will rise to 8 million passengers and 200,000 tons of cargo, the report said.
The international airport will eventually cover 657.9 hectares and be used for both civil and military purposes, the report added.
