SBV Governor meets with ADB’s Country Director in Vietnam
Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting in Hanoi on June 2nd with Mr. Ayumi Konishi, Country Director for Vietnam of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The meeting was also attended by Directors General of the Monetary Policy Department, the International Cooperation Department and the International Credit Project Management Unit.
Governor Nguyen Van Giau and Mr. Ayumi Konishi exchanged views related to three main topics, namely the ADB’s new loans to several developing countries including Vietnam in order to preventing economic recession, the implementation of housing programs for the poor and the low-income households and the ADB’s Technical Assistance Project to enhance SBV’s capacity in governing and managing monetary policies.
The Governor expressed his sincere thanks to ADB for its assistance and support for Vietnam over the past years as a contribution to strengthening confidence of the donor community in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam and SBV are making their best in order to obtain a maximum access to the ADB’s lending and committed to use the ADB loans in a most effective and rightful manner, the Governor added.
The Governor also called upon ADB to continue assisting SBV in improving its regulations and policies with a special emphasis on training and retraining of SBV’s staff in such fields as monetary policy management, forecast and statistics.
