Savings interest inches up again

VIB Bank is raising its interest rate by 0.2-0.6 per cent a year on Vietnamese dong saving accounts, while Dai A Bank has increased its rates by 0.15-0.4 per cent.

VIB’s interest rate on a three-month savings account is 8.02 per cent a year. Six-month, 12-month and 36-month term savings deposits at the bank are 8.36, 8.5 and 9 per cent a year, respectively.

Dai A Bank is offering 8.7 per cent interest rate for a 18-month deposit; 8.68 per cent for 13 months; 8.65 per cent for 12 months; 8.62 for nine months; 8.6 for six months; and 8.4 per cent for three months.

The bank offers a higher rate of interest on saving accounts at its branches in HCM City and Ha Noi, especially on those of VND500 million (US$28,000) or more.

Sacombank has also launched a promotion programme, offering bonus interest of 3.6 per cent on Vietnamese dong accounts and 0.15 per cent on accounts in US dollars or gold. The bonus takes effect during the second term and further.
