PV Trans to be Vietnam refinery's exclusive shipper

State oil monopoly PetroVietnam said on Tuesday it had signed a contract to use tanker operator PV Trans as the exclusive shipper of oil products from Vietnam's first oil refinery.

The oil group said in a statement it used PV Trans' tankers in May to transport kerosene from Dung Quat refinery to its depot in Vung Tau prior to finalising the contract.

The 140,000-bpd Dung Quat refinery is expected to run at full throttle from August, PetroVietnam has said.

The plant is located in Quang Ngai province, about 900 km north of Vietnam's main consumption centre in Ho Chi Minh City and nearly 900 km south of the capital Hanoi.

Shares in the Ho Chi Minh City-based tanker operator closed down nearly 5 percent on Tuesday at VND21,000 each.
