Falling prices push index to fortnight low
Shares continue falling on both domestic bourses yesterday, as the VN-Index dropped to its lowest level in the past two weeks.
The Index commenced the week by shedding another 17.11 points to close at 458.11. Trading volume, at 40.2 million shares, was down 17 per cent from Friday, while the total value of the day’s trades, at VND1.55 trillion (over US$91 million), was off 13 per cent.
Sacombank (STB) was the most active share on the HCM City Stock Exchange, with 7.8 million traded.
In Ha Noi, the HASTC-Index also declined by 9.20 points to end yesterday at 158.66. The value of the day’s trades was VND650.43 billion ($36.5 million) on a volume of more than 18.5 million shares. Asia Commercial Bank (ABC) led the northern market, with more than 5.16 million shares changing hands.
As the week progresses, shares in the insurance sector could attract investor attention, as Bao Viet Holdings lists on the HCM City Stock Exchange on Thursday.
Banking and financial shares and shares in the real estate development sector remain active.
Kim Long Securities predicted that the VN-Index would continue to decline this week and end the week in the 415-440 range.
