VIS: Explanation for business result in Q1/09

Viet Nam – Italy Steel Joint Stock Company (VIS: VISCO) has explained business result in Q1/09 as follows:

 * Output value: VND447,081 million, reaching 26.2% of plan and 205.7% compared to that in Q4/08.

* Net sales: VND386,834 million, reaching 23.8% of plan and 135.9% compared to that in Q4/08.

* Profit after tax: VND10,308 million, reaching 46.5% of plan and 21.6% compared to that in Q4/08.

* Output: 46,450 tons of steel, reaching 27.1% of plan and 120.5% compared to that in Q4/08.

* Consuming output: 45,339 tons of steel, reaching 26.5% of plan and 103.6% compared to that in Q4/08

Compared to Q4/08, most of business items increased in Q1/09, however, profit dreased due to the following reasons:

+ The government had done pocily of stimulating demand, consuming steel was high.

+ Increase of output and stability of steel price led to increase of sales and output value.

+ If compared to Q4/08, profit in Q1/09 decreased, but if compared to the 2009 plan, the profit is acceptable.
