Solutions firm finds US partner

Global CyberSoft (GCS), Viet Nam’s leading technology solutions company, yesterday reached a strategic cooperation agreement with SIMAX Global Services (SIMAX), a US-headquartered leading service provider of equipment for semiconductor and related manufacturing operations.

The partnership of SIMAX and GCS will provide cost-effective high quality services specialising in field services, parts and consumables, engineering, remanufacturing and trading for specialised equipment in semiconductor manufacturing and markets in Asia.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Global CyberSoft to the SIMAX family. GCS’s unique combination of state-of-the-art knowledge, in-depth semiconductor knowledge and attractive pricing is a powerful addition to our portfolio of products and services for mature wafer factories," said Eduard Hoeberichts, SIMAX co-founder and CEO.

"SIMAX has a worldwide sales network and alliance in US and Europe, and GCS has a strong position in Japan and Southeast Asia," Kevin Nguyen, GCS chairman, added.

"Joining the SIMAX alliance enables us to expand our international presence and reach more customers in the semiconductor business, and in addition, it provides us with a great platform to work closely with equipment suppliers, allowing us to cooperate and better meet customer needs."

This partnership is a significant stage for both companies to establish a joint-venture based in HCM City in the third quarter.

This joint-venture company plans to have an initial investment of US$10 million with GCS representing 51 per cent.

Work is expected to start for a factory in the city’s hi-tech park in the first quarter of 2010 and its operation will begin by the end of the same year.

In the early stage, a 50-engineer team will be ready to work on-site for worldwide customers.

These engineers will be trained in equipment engineering by SIMAX and software solution engineering for automation systems by GCS.

This will help competent Vietnamese staff acquire skills and in-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing automation and field service engineering.

Through the alliance, the product manufacturing line and equipment manufacturing of SIMAX will be transferred to Viet Nam, which will strongly contribute to the development of electrical, mechanical and mechatronics engineering in the country.

The US-headquartered GCS specialises in software outsourcing services for various industry domains, such as factory automation for the semiconductor industry, information communication technology, embedded systems for mobile devices and automobile applications.
