SBV Governor meets with Chairman of Taiwan Cooperative Bank
Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Tien Lin, Chairman of the Taiwan Cooperative Bank on May 25.
The Governor informed the guest of SBV’s implementation of monetary policy and the Vietnamese Government’s directives in face of complex movements of the global and regional economic performance to contribute to controlling inflation, and meeting the macro-economic targets, while proactively preventing economic recession, maintaining proper economic growth and enhancing the confidence of organizations, individuals and domestic and foreign investors. Referring to the banking industry, the Governor affirmed that the credit institutions are operating in a safe and sound manner.
For his part, Mr. Tien Lin expressed his deep impression and appreciation for the Vietnamese Government’s measures to overcome difficulties caused by the global economic crisis.
The two sides exchanged their views on the global economic situation in general and the Vietnamese banking development in particular and reflected their consensus that the relationship between the two sides in the baking field will further develop. Mr. Tien Lin took this opportunity to express his hope that the SBV will continue to support and create favorable condition for Taiwanese Banks to operate effectively, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
