RoK environmental corporation eyes investment in Dung Quat

Businesspeople and experts in the field of environment from the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 18 visited the Dung Quat economic zone in central Quang Ngai province to inquire into the zone’s needs for waste treatment and local policy on environmental protection.

The RoK delegation, which included representatives from the Korea Environment and Resources Corporation (ENVICO) and the POSCO group  met with Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Quang Thich, who said the zone is particularly in need of technology for waste water treatment.

Thich said that the province gives the highest priority in line with the government’s regulations to investment projects in the area of environmental protection.

The delegation also worked with the Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board and conducted field research.

Last August, a working group of ENVICO also conducted a survey of the existing environmental infrastructure in the Dung Quat zone, especially facilities for treatment of harmful and industrial waste.
