Gold prices up sharply to VND 20.6 million a tael

The domestic gold prices on May 22 kept rising. Specifically, domestic gold prices increased by VND 240,000 to 290,000 a tael to VND 20.66 million a tael today.

This morning, Saigon Jewelry Holding Company (SJC) listed its buying and selling prices in Hanoi at VND 20.58 and VND 20.66 million a tael respectively. Accordingly, both buying and selling prices increased VND 250.000 a tael compared to the yesterday prices.

Gold prices listed by Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company were VND 20.55 million a tael for buying and VND 20.60 million a tael for selling, up VND 290,000 and VND 240,000 a tael against the former prices.

The world gold price has exceeded US$950 an ounce while US$ price has hit its lowest level in 4 months. In the world market, the immediate delivery gold price in New York was put at US$954.9 an ounce. The prices of gold for June delivery increased by US$13.8 an ounce (equivalent to 1.5%) to US$951.2 an ounce – the record level in the past two months.
