First turbine of Quang Ninh 1 power plant joins the national grid

The first turbine of Quang Ninh 1 thermo-electric power plant with a capacity of 300 MW officially joined the national grid at 10:30 am on May 12.

In the first phrase, Quang Ninh 1 thermo-electric power plant has 2 turbines with a capacity of 600 MW. Also, the second phrase with 2 more turbines generating 600 MW will raise the total capacity of the plant to 1,200 MW. As a result, the plant will generate 3.6 billion kWh annually to the national grid.

This project is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract between the Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company and the Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd (SEC) with a total investment capital of more than US$452 million. The Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) invests in the construction of this project with an investment of VND 9,165.2 billion.
