12,800 foreign investors engage in Vietnamese bourses
The Securities Depository Center said it has issued transaction codes to 12,886 foreign investors, including 953 institutional players, as of May 4.
In April alone, the center granted codes to 16 foreign institutions and five foreign individuals.
Vietnam opened its first stock exchange in 2000. By March 2007, one of the world's fastest-growing markets had hit a record high of 1,170 points. A correction soon followed, with the VNIndex slumping 66 percent in 2008.
The index has rallied 15.3 percent this year.
