Second Workshop on “Project Finance and Investment Opportunities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam”
The Vietnam Bankers Association in coordination with the ASEAN Bankers Association held the second Workshop on “Project Finance and Investment Opportunities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam” in Hanoi on April 2. Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) attended the Workshop and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
The SBV Governor emphasized that this Workshop is a meaningful event in the context of the on-going global economic recession, making many developing economies including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar easily vulnerable. The workshop, he went on, is an opportunity for each country to provide information on its practical economic situation and investment in general and banking operations in particular, hence promoting socio-economic development of the aforesaid nations, contributing to the regional economic development and mitigating external adverse impact.
He also said that the Workshop is an opportunity for Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar to get access to financial resources in the forms of syndicated loans from ASEAN banks for effective infrastructure projects.
The two-day Workshop (April 2-3), focuses on the discussion of such main issues as introduction of the Investment Law and several important investment projects of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
