SBV Deputy Governor meets with Australian Business Delegation

Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang of the State bank of Vietnam (SBV), on April 15, had a meeting with the visiting Australian Business Delegation led by Mr.Richard Woolcott AC, Founding Director of the AustralAsia Society Center, and Mr.Charles Goode, Chairman of the ANZ Bank.

Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang briefed his guests of key features of the monetary policy in Vietnam in 2008, important directives of the monetary policy in 2009 and prospects of the banking sector in the coming time. He also expressed his belief that this visit of the delegation would make a great contribution to enhancing all-sided cooperation between the two countries.

Representatives of the Australian Business Delegation stated that their visit aimed at enhancing cooperation with Vietnam by studying the market and finding opportunities for investment in Vietnam in such fields as finance, education, production, mining and energy, and getting to know viewpoints and strategy of the Vietnamese Government in the investment, financial and banking development in the coming time.

The two sides exchanged their views on such Vietnamese issues such as the interest rate policy, the issuance and usage of Polymer banknotes, assessment of credit risks of commercial banks and enterprises, so on and so forth.
