Central bank orders companies to price items in dong
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has asked relevant agencies to work together to combat the illegal pricing of items in foreign currency and illegal foreign currency exchange.
According to SBV, some organizations and individuals who work as foreign currency exchange agents trade illegally in foreign currency.
SBV has asked the ministries of Public Security and Industry and Trade and the People’s Committees of cities and provinces to inspect advertisements and written prices of goods and services for figures listed in foreign currency.
SBV has asked the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education and the Ministry of Information and Communication to direct the media to publish only advertisements with prices written in foreign currency which are allowed by law. Apart from these, organizations and individuals can only publish prices of goods and services in Vietnamese Dong.
