Banking expo eyes risk management
Risk management during the crunch and IT investment to develop an efficient banking service will top talks at the 10th Banking Viet Nam 2009 Conference and Expo next month.
The event, hosted by the Information Technology Department under the State Bank of Viet Nam and the International Data Group, will take place from May 27 to 29 this year in Ha Noi.
In the face of the global economic downturn, banks are focusing on risk management of the market, operations, credit and also protection of information systems and customer data.
Technology investment is expected to connect banks to customers, banks to banks and other organisations.
Organisers said it was high time banks sharpened their competitive edge and expanded market share via customer centricity, marketing oriented strategy, business intelligence and customer relations management.
At the same time, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) has been an inevitable trend in global finance and banking. Global financial and banking corporations have been using M&A to penetrate the domestic market and it is believed it will be prevalent in Viet Nam by 2010 as the country opens it market fully.
Financial and banking system supervision also needs improving, with pressure on the Government to tighten regulations of the financial system. However, the implementation process to improve efficiency and sustain the financial system is still a big issue.
The event will also include an expo on Viet Nam and international banks, banking solution providers, banking services and technology.
For the last decade, Banking Viet Nam has helped share valuable IT information and practices, helping bankers define and implement business strategy and sustainable development.
