Vietnam Expo 2009 attracts foreign businesses

Businesses from 17 countries and territories such as Nigeria, Algeria, Chile and Belarus will showcase their products on 520 stands at annual fair due to start in Hanoi on April 8.

Vietnam Expo 2009 will also be attended by businesses from 14 Vietnamese cities and provinces, including those with popular brands such as Petro Vietnam, Viglacera, Vinatea, Vinaconex, Hapro and Vinataba, said Nguyen Thanh Bien, deputy Minister of Trade and Industry at a press conference in Hanoi on March 30.

On display will be aquatic products, food, furniture, interior decorations, handicrafts, garments and textiles, footwear, electrical and electronic appliances and machinery.

There will be workshops, commercial transactions between foreign and domestic businesses and trade promotion activities by Vietnamese cities, provinces and craft associations on the sidelines of the fair.

Despite the economic downturn, the presence of many foreign companies at the event demonstrates that Vietnam remains an attractive market for foreign businesses, said Mr. Bien.

The fair, the 19th of its kind, is jointly hosted by the Department of Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad).

HCM City to host Pneumatics and Hydraulics exhibitions

An International Exhibition of Fluid, Air and Gas Handling Systems (PS Vietnam 2009) and an exhibition of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Air-Filtration and Purification systems (HVACR Vietnam 2009) will open at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City from March 31 to April 2.

The two exhibitions to promote international trade are organised by the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (VINEXAD), part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Singapore’s IIR Exhibition Service Co. Ltd.

Both events will draw many domestic and foreign businesses from Vietnam, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and China. They will also bring together professionals from around the region to tackle current concerns in the industry, from technological advances to changes in market trends and the prospects of new business opportunities.

Along with the exhibitions will be a seminar on the infrastructure of the energy industry and a selection of various services that connect businesses to suppliers and customers. Exchanges and other meetings will also be held to create more opportunities for Vietnamese and foreign businesses to seek out new partners, markets and contracts.
