Standard Chartered, ACB link ATMs
Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) on March 12 announced a tie-up to issue a co-branded credit card and share their ATM networks.
Customers of both banks will thus have free access to a pool of more than 270 ATMs in key areas around Vietnam.
ACB will issue VISA Gold cards that can also be used at Standard Chartered Bank’s ATMs, merchants’, and other transaction points around the world.
Ashok Sud, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in Vietnam, said the moves are a huge step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two banks.
“It is by leveraging each other’s capabilities that ACB and Standard Chartered Bank can deliver superior products and services to their customers at lower cost,” he said.
Standard Chartered is a strategic investor in ACB, one of the country’s largest joint stock commercial banks.
Ly Xuan Hai, chief executive officer of ACB, said: “Credit card growth has been speedy and has become an attractive business for banks. The launching of our co-branded gold credit card will benefit consumers of both banks. ACB’s customers, which traveling abroad, can access the advanced ATMs of SCB and vice versa, SCB’s customers here can now enjoy the credit card and ATM infrastructure of ACB.”/.
