India slaps dumping duty on yarn, fabric
India has imposed a US$232.86 per tonne anti-dumping duty on yarn and fabric imported from Viet Nam to protect domestic producers, according to the Vietnamese trade office in India.
The anti-dumping duty, effective immediately, will remain in force until September 25, according to a notification issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
India has also slapped anti-dumping duties ranging from $112.4 to $527.64 per tonne on yarn and fabric imported from China and Thailand.
The anti-dumping duty was imposed on the three countries following recommendations by the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, which said that Indian industry "was suffering material injury caused by dumped imports" at low prices.
India also recently imposed anti-dumping duties on fluorescent-lamps and recordable compact discs imported from Viet Nam and several other countries, saying that the products were dumped on the Indian market at below normal value.
The rate of dumping was determined to fall at 70-85 per cent for fluorescent-lamps and 54.65 per cent for recordable compacts discs.
