Gold prices hit nearly VND20 million per tael

Domestic gold prices have surged following dramatic increases in world gold prices while the US exchange market has plunged to its lowest level since 1996.

SJC gold bars were bought at VND19.5 million per tael and sold at VND19.7 million per tael in the transaction in Hanoi on March 7, a rise of VND140,000 and 160,000 per tael from March 6 respectively.

Gold bars were bought at VND19.55 million per tael and sold for VND19.63 million per tael at Phu Quy Gold, Silver and Gemstone Company, up VND150,000 and VND130,000.

Also on the morning of March 7, Bao Tin Minh Chau company’s gold bars with the Rong Thang Long (Thang Long dragon) trademark cost VND19.55 million per tael to buy and sold for VND19.65 million, an increase of VND150,000 and VND130,000 respectively.

However, not considering taxation and other costs, domestic gold prices still remain lower than world gold prices.
