Ford completes new assembly line in Vietnam
Ford Motor announced Tuesday the completion of a US$10- million assembly line in the northern province of Hai Duong with a capacity of 700 vehicles a year.
The assembly will be used to manufacture the Mondeo model for the domestic market, the US car maker said in a statement.
“Despite the current economic challenges, we remain confident in the mid to long-term growth prospects for our business in Vietnam, as well as the overall industry," said David Alden, president of Ford ASEAN.
The line has increased Ford’s investment in Vietnam to $110 million, making it the country’s largest auto investor.
Ford Vietnam, founded in 1995, has an annual capacity of 9,000 units. It sold 6,500 vehicles last year, according to the statement.
