Port opens for oil and gas exports

The Phu My port, Tan Thanh district, south eastern coast province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, was inaugurated February 6 to help exports and imports of oil and gas, and general goods.

The port is one of several projects under a key plan to develop ports in Vietnam, which was approved by the Prime Minister.

Its quay is 385 meters in length, and 27 meters in width. The access channel is 560 meters in width, and 10-25 meters in depth. The port can accept vessels of up to 50,000DWT with the total goods of 2–4 million tons per year.

At the inauguration, the Petroleum Technical Service Corporation, the investor, also debuted their subsidiary PSTC Phu My.

On the same day, the port welcomed the first international cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, which carried over 1,400 foreign passengers and crew.
