Gold prices unexpectedly increase to VND18.8 million per tael
After two adjustments, SJC gold prices in Ho Chi Minh City were transacted at VND18.8-18.730 million per tael on February 6.
The high prices attracted big crowds of customers to gold stores. The gold transaction centre of the Saigon Jewelry Holding Company (SJC) on 66 Le Loi Street, HCM City, was crowded with customers selling large amounts of gold.
In Hanoi, the price of SJC gold on February 6 was listed at VND18.8-18.9 million per tael, increasing VND300,000/tael compared with transactions on February 5.
Meanwhile, the purchasing price for Thang Long gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company was VND18.73-18.85 million per tael.
Domestic gold prices have increased sharply due to strongly increasing global gold prices on the New York market (USA). The major factor is that investors have held money in reserve to buy gold in case the economic crisis shows no sign of easing off.
