Seventy firm win Golden Awards
More than 70 enterprises will receive “Golden Awards” from the National Committee on International Economic Cooperation in Hanoi on Dec. 20.
The ceremony marks the second anniversary of Vietnam ’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.
The committee, the National Assembly’s People’s Deputies daily and Sao Viet International Communication Joint Stock Company have set the criteria for the awards.
These are based on the business results of the enterprises and include their size and production; the effectiveness of their management and the success of their global integration.
The businesses include the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (Petro-Vietnam); DiCentral Compagny Ltd; the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank); the Moc Chau Dairy Cow Joint Stock Company; the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), Thanh Thanh Dat Ltd; the Song Da Urban and Industrial Zone Investment and Development Company (Sudico) and the Binh An Seafood Joint Stock Company.
The organisers held a workshop in Hanoi on Dec.19 to access the progress of Vietnam ’s enterprises two years after WTO accession.
The workshop provided an opportunity for ministries and the nominated enterprises to exchange views about doing and developing business in the international economy.
Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Nguyen Cam Tu said small enterprises need more strong official support.
Vietnam ’s further integration with the world economy would have advantages and disadvantages, he said.
Vietnam ’s trading enterprises should reduce export costs and increase their competitiveness against their regional rivals.
The country’s goods and services should be of sufficient quality to compete in the export markets, he said.
