Exports procedure to be eased: officials
Speeding up more administrative reforms, including customs procedures and taxation, is necessary to promote exports, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said at a meeting Thursday.
The meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Customs and foreign-invested firms in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss ways to boost exports.
Other solutions could also include adjusting taxes on wood and rice exports and allowing exporters extra time to pay their tax bills, the Ministry of Finance said.
With economies all over the world in recession, Vietnam’s exports are expected to slow next year in the face of fiercer competition from rival exporting nations.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said exports were also facing non-tax barriers and protection measures in some foreign markets.
