Efforts required prevent high price increase during Tet

The Minister of Finance on December 2 issued an Instruction asking relevant agencies to pool efforts to stabilise prices and prevent price hike during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year).

Under the Instruction No 2008/CT-BTC, heads of departments under the ministry, directors of local finance departments, heads of tax department and customs department, director of State Treasury branches in centrally-governed provinces and cities are asked to strengthen co-ordination with market watchers and relevant agencies to carry out measures to stablise prices and prevent sudden high increases in prices of commodities and services during Tet, thus contributing to ensuring a happy Tet for the people.

The Minister also strictly prohibits the use of public money and State treasury to buy gifts during Tet.
