Airfares to be controlled by airlines
Local airlines will be allowed to decide airfares for their local and international air routes, as well as other fees, based on the market conditions, according to a Government decision.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung assigned the Minister of Transport to report to the National Assembly Standing Committee for immediate application of this decision, under which the Government will not set a price framework for aviation transport services. The prices will be decided based on the market mechanism, under the government’s control.
The government will ask the National Assembly to consider amending Article 11 of the Regulation on aviation fares and fees and Article 116 on airfare in the Aviation Law in the fifth session next May.
The decision may take effect this December.
