Stock market continues further sharp decreases

The domestic stock market continued to be plummeting on both bourses on the last trading session of the week. VN-Index closed the week below 320 points with all five sessions of decline while HASTC-Index was near the 100 point mark.

Specifically, VN-Index suffered a sharp loss at the first phase of the session, down 3.14% or 10.24 points. However stronger purchases in the second and third phases helped narrow the loss. In the end, it managed a smaller loss and ended down 2.08% or 6.78 points to close at 318.96.

Thus, the VN-Index lost a total of over 33 points this week. The 318.96 point mark has also been the lowest since February 2006.

Liquidity in this session was improved with over 16.2 million units matched for VND 421 billion. 104 stocks reported losses while only 30 stocks advanced, 34 others stayed unchanged and two had no trades at all.

STB of Sacombank topped the list of most traded stocks with over 4.25 million units matched, followed by DPM (1.2 million units) and SSI (over 713,000 units).

HASTC-Index closed the week at 103.9 points, down 2.43% or 2.59 points. Trading was gloomy as only 6.8 million units were changed hands for VND 173 billion. These were 103 losers against 33 gainers. Thirteen other stocks saw no change while nine remaining stocks reported no trade.
