SBV Deputy Governor attends Russell Association Conference 20-20
Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) attended the Russell Association Conference 20-20 held at the Sofitel Metropole Hotel in Hanoi on October 31st, 2008.
The Conference aimed at helping investors to assess the investment environment in Vietnam for their future investment decisions. The Russell Association 20-20 includes major investors from the United States of America and other countries, who are now managing assets worth US$12,000 billion.
Addressing the Conference, the Deputy Governor touched upon the opportunities and challenges of Vietnam’s monetary policy with a focus on such issues as the recent challenges and the solution package of the Government, present challenges and prospects of the economy, policy directives of the Government and the SBV monetary policy objectives and so on and so forth.
For their part, the guests spoke highly of the open and friendly investment environment in Vietnam and expressed their satisfaction with the results of the conference. The investors also praised the timely and effective response of the SBV to the recent international and domestic complicated developments.
In the context of the current global economic slowdown, the visit of the Russell Association 20-20 to Vietnam showed a positive sign of attracting foreign investment into Vietnam. It was also an opportunity for the SBV to inform foreign investors of Vietnam’s policies and enhance their confidence in the investment environment of this country.
