Towards more efficient use of energy
To make the use of energy more efficient and effective at Vietnamese small and medium-sized businesses is the aim of a project, financed by the Global Environment Fund and some Vietnamese agencies.
The project, scheduled to last from 2006 to 2010, helps to reduce the greenhouse gas turned out in five industries include brick, pottery, textile, paper and pulp making and food processing.
Its success will help reduce 10-15 percent of energy cost for the Vietnam’s businesses and decrease the greenhouse gas volume from their factories, estimatedly equivalent to 962,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
The project will also provide information and technical training as well as improve the energy management skills for these businesses.
Localities nationwide have been launching 134 energy saving projects, of which paper production, textile and seafood processing businesses reduced energy cost by 15-25 percent and brick and pottery producers, 20-25 percent.
Pham Huu Duc, project’s director said that until 2010 the country will continue to launch 500 more energy saving models in those industries.
