President attends opening of Vietnam-Russia Bank Rep Office in Moscow

President Nguyen Minh Triet was invited as the distinguished guest at the ceremony in Moscow on October 28th, 2008 to present the license and open the Representative Office of the Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Bank in the Russian capital city. This is part of his activities on the occasion of his official visit to the Russian Federation. During his stay in Moscow, the President also witnessed the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam and the Russian Bank for Foreign Trade.

President Nguyen Minh Triet was invited to speak at the Vietnam-Russia Business Forum held the same day in Moscow. He called upon the Russian Federation to make a bigger contribution to the investment flow into Vietnam and play an important role both politically and economically in Vietnam, thereby enhancing its influence in Southeast Asia.

The Vietnamese President informed that President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had proposed to use both Russian and Vietnamese currencies in settlements between the two countries. Therefore, he added, the opening of the Representative Office of the Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Bank in Moscow would help to facilitate settlements of trade between the two countries.
