Binh Thuan dragon fruit debuts in US market

Eight tons of dragon fruit from the Duy Lan farm in Binh Thuan were shipped to the US on October 3.

The Binh Thuan dragon fruit association has announced that this is the first export shipment coordinated between the farm owner, Thai Duc Duy and the Son Son seafood processing joint stock company (HCMC).

Duy Lan is the first farm that has acquired the Eurepgap certificate. The farm has provided safe products for prestigious markets in Europe for many years. Moreover, Duy Lan is one of four Vietnamese farms permitted to export dragon fruit to US market, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Thuan.

Binh Thuan has about 10,000 hectares under dragon fruit cultivation, and last year's output was 141,000 tons. Of this, 25,000 tons were exported at a total value of US$15 million.
