Vietnam and ADB sign two technical assistance projects
Under the authorization of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy Governor Nguyen Van Binh of the State Bank of Vietnam joined Mr. Aymi Konishi, Country Director of the Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Vietnam in signing two technical assistance projects for Vietnam in Hanoi on 26 September 2008.
The “Community-based Early Childhood Care and Development” project costs a total of US$ 2.2 millions, including US$ 1.9 granted by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction administered by ADB. The project is planned to run from 2008 to 2010.
The “Strengthening Water Management and Irrigation Systems Rehabilitation” project is worth US$ 1.25 million, of which US$ 1.0 million is provided in the form of a grant by the Japan Special Fund administered by ADB. The project is expected to be in operation from November 2008 to July 2009.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Governor Nguyen Van Binh, expressed the Vietnamese Government’s sincere thanks to the Government of Japan and the ADB for the grants and assistance. He also expressed his strong belief that the projects will be implemented in a timely manner to achieve the expected objectives and ensure the effective use of valuable financing of the Government of Japan.
