Remove anti-dumping tax on VN’s shoes: EU nations
Almost all countries from the European Union (EU) want to remove anti-dumping tax on Vietnam and China’s leather-capped shoes, diplomats from Brussels have said.
This was a common viewpoint that the 27-member grouping’s trade experts presented at a meeting in Brussels on September 17, which aimed at reaching a decision on whether to extend anti-dumping tax on leather-capped shoes imported from Vietnam and China.
Under the anti-dumping tax, shoes from Vietnam are imposed an import duty of 10 percent, and those from China - 16.5 percent.
Although the viewpoint is not a decisive factor, it would put more pressure on EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson, forcing him to “reconsider” the plan to extend the tax for more 15 months.
Earlier, many associations and world-leading shoe makers also called on the EU to remove the tax, saying that the measure not only have impacts on EU consumers but also on the EU shoe manufacturing sector.
