Marriott luxury hotel slated for central resort  

Lodging group Marriott International will introduce its luxury hotel brand with a hotel in a resort complex owned by fund management company VinaCapital in the central city of Da Nang.

The two companies signed an agreement to the effect Monday in Ho Chi Minh City,VinaCapital said in a statement which estimates investment in the project to reach US$60 million.

David Henry, managing director of VinaCapital Real Estate, said he believes the 271-room JW Marriott Da Nang Resort “will be among the top hotels in the region” when it opens in 2011.

It will be an integral part of VinaCapital’s upscale Da Nang Beach Resort that will also include residential villas and a golf course.

VinaCapital started construction on the $130-million Da Nang Beach Resort in January 2008.

The Marriott International portfolio in Vietnam currently consists of the 336-room Renaissance Riverside Saigon and the 538-room New World Hotel Saigon.
