Gold prices return to VND17 million per tael
The domestic gold prices on September 15 surged by VND180,000 per tael to hit roughly VND17 million per tael after staying below this level for the last five days due to a drop in world gold prices.
Hanoi SJC Company announced this morning that its gold was purchased at VND16.9 million per tael and sold at VND17.1 million as compared with VND16.77 million/tael and VND16.92 million/tael respectively on September 14.
On the free market, Bao Tin Minh Chau gold was listed at VND16.9 million/tael (purchase) and VND17.05 million/tael (sell).
Chu Van Hoc, who is in charge of Hanoi SJC’s business activities, said that despite a decline in gold prices, his company only traded in 700 taels of gold last week, compared with 1000 taels previously.
Gold prices reached US$779 per ounce on the Asian market on the morning of September 15.
