City orders check of fee collection
Ho Chi Minh City requested Thursday that the Department of Finance and the Bureau of Taxation audit the collection of local fees in 24 districts this month in order to promptly ensure compliance with regulations.
A survey on fee collection, conducted by the HCMC People’s Council’s Economic and Budget Board, shows that people are asked to voluntarily contribute to about 10 different funds.
According to the survey, each locality sets its own rate, from VND75,000-120,000 (US$4.70-7.50) per household per year, or even higher rates.
