Stock market rally on first session of new trading bands, VN-Index exceeds 500 points
Both northern and southern bourses experienced sharp increases on the first session of the week as the new trading bands became effective. The VN-Index exceeded the 500 points mark which it lost more than three months ago.
With the adjusted trading bands of ±5% for the southern bourse and ±7% for the northern bourse effective today, a majority of stocks listed on both bourses advanced strongly and market trading volumes maintained at high levels.
The northern bourse saw 143 gainers, with more than 110 of them hitting ceiling prices including large-capped ones, six stayed still and six others dropped.
Ending today session, VN-Index increased by 3.91% or 19.11 points to close at 508.05. The market liquidity was improved with over 18.1 million shares were traded via order matching for VND 755 billion.
DHG got the highest increase, up VND 7,000 to VND 155,000 a share, followed by TCT, up VND 6,000 to VND 127,000 a share.
Trading was also very busy on the northern bourse as demands exceeded supplies. Over 90% of stocks listed on the bourse reported gains with many of them hitting ceiling prices.
Specifically, of the 146 listed stocks, 113 stocks gained, only 11 declined, one stayed unchanged and another had no trade.
The market saw 10.1 million shares traded at VND 385 billion. HASTC-Index closed up 6.28 points or 4.14% at 157.93.
