JICA to improve Vietnam central bank’s capacity

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is set to provide technical assistance to help the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to strengthen its management capacity.

Under a pact signed in Hanoi on August 22, JICA will assist the central bank to modernise its issue and vault operations, improve efficiency and safety of debt settlement system, and strengthen the banking supervision.

The project also aims to build an effective information channel and promote partnership between the SBV and the Bank of Japan and Japan ’s Ministry of Finance.

During the project duration from August 2008 to September 2010, JICA will send high-grade experts to support the SBV’s policy making and resolution of emerging issues.
