VN Ambassador encourages British companies to invest
A forum on investment opportunities in Vietnam opened here on July 15 to highlight how best British investors can access market professionals in real estate, finance and securities market.
Keynote speaker, Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Quang Hoan reviewed Vietnam ’s economic achievement over the past 20 years of renewal and updated British investors on Vietnam ’s economic situation. Ambassador Hoan said Vietnam ’s economy was very good, as foreign direct investment remained strong.
Ian Lydall, senior partner with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Vietnam said the fundamental Vietnamese economy was excellent. He said while opportunities were not as they were last year, there were still plenty. Because some Vietnamese construction and property companies need financing and assistance from foreign companies, opportunities may open for foreign companies to get involved in partnerships.
Lydall said it was still considered a good time to invest and that many people still asked for help with security deals.
General Director of Viet Dragon Fund Management, Nguyen Thuc Vinh, said the forum was an opportunity to show British investors the potential of the Vietnamese securities market.
CBRE Vietnam director Naim Khan Turk said the demand for real estate in Vietnam was still in excess of supply.
At the forum, participants were keen on land ownership issues and tax regulations and securities law in Vietnam . Participants at the forum are British property development companies, investors and companies interested in exploring opportunities in Vietnam.
