Vinasun taxi corporation debuts on exchange as number 156
Anh Duong Vietnam Joint Stock Corporation (Vinasun) on July 29 became the first taxi operator to get on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange’s board, bringing the total number of listed firms to 156.
Vinasun has a chartered capital of 170 billion VND (10 million USD) with Saigon Trading Corp (Satra), Prudential Fund Management Company, Temasek Holdings and Saigon Securities Inc among its major shareholders.
With 1,800 cabs in HCM City , the company enjoys a 40 percent share of the market. In Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, it has a 60 percent share.
Chairman Dang Phuoc Thanh said Vinasun’s convoy would increase to more than 2,000 by year end.
In the first half of the year, the company made 390 billion VND in turnover. That figure is expected to rise to 860 billion VND, compared to the set target of 745 billion VND.
It netted 33 billion VND in the first six months, possibly reaching 77 billion VND by the end of the year. This year dividends should be 20 percent.
The company is also making forays into real estate, and has several projects lined up, including Vinasun Tower and Vinasun Apartments in the city and an urban development in Dong Thap province.
A day earlier the Construction and Materials Trading Joint-Stock Company became listed as the 155 th company.
CNT has a chartered capital of 80 billion VND (4.7 million USD), with the State holding 34.5 percent. Foreign ownership is miniscule, accounting for 0.53 percent.
The company assets value is 1.16 trillion VND, up from 1 trillion VND in 2007 and 665 billion VND in 2006 .
In the first six months of the year, it netted 15.3 billion VND in profits, compared to 20 billion VND in 2007 and 13 billion VND in 2006.
General director Phan Anh Tuan said shareholders could receive this year’s dividends of 20 percent.
CNT also has expanded operations into real estate with investment in the Ha Tien New Urban Area
