Party leader asks banks to play core in curbing inflation
The banking system at this moment should play as a core in curbing inflation, stabilising macro economy, maintaining growth and ensuring social security for sustainable development, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said on July 30.
He stressed on the major task for domestic banks while talking with the elite of the Vietnam Industrial and Commercial Bank (Vietinbank) on the occasion of the bank’s 20th establishment anniversary.
He praised Vietinbank’s 20-year development to become one of the nation’s leading commercial banks which makes an average annual growth rate of 30 percent.
The Party leader also pointed to the bank’s limitations, saying its efficiency, competitiveness, and contributions to the country’s industrialisation and modernisation cause have not matched with its advantages and the State’s support.
He said, there was still a noticeable gap between the bank’s management capacity, human resource, technology and risk prevention skills and those of advanced banks in the region and the world.
