Jetstar discloses new fares, flight schedule to Vietnam
Vietnam Air's packages take in more destinations
Qantas Group's airline Jetstar on Tuesday announced schedule and daily low fares for its new international services between Australia and HCMC.
The new Sydney-Darwin-HCMC run will be launched from September 2 and replace the existing three direct weekly Sydney-HCMC service which the low-fare airline commenced in November 2006.
Jetstar Airways will use the Airbus A320 for its five weekly service between Sydney and HCMC via Darwin on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, instead of the A330 airplane for its current flights.
Jetstar aircraft is scheduled to leave Tan Son Nhat Airport at 10:25 p.m. on the five days for Darwin, enabling passengers from Vietnam to connect directly to either Sydney or Melbournecities, where a large number of overseas Vietnamese reside.
The new routes for Jetstar "will broaden our footprint across Southeast Asia and see us establish our seventh Australian port for international operations," Jetstar General Manager Commercial Bruce Buchanan said.
The new service will maintain the carrier's presence in Vietnam, yet at the same time introduce new Jetstar routes Sydney-Darwin as an Australian domestic service and Darwin-HCMC as a further five weekly international service from expanded Darwin operations.
"This service will provide yet another daylight connection between the southern states and Darwin, and highlights the ongoing opportunities for Darwin to become a northern hub for our international services," Buchanan said.
Jetstar will operate multiple direct domestic services each week into Darwin from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, and 19 weekly international return services from Darwin to the Southeast Asian ports of Singapore and HCMC.
Jetstar Airways has put fares on www.Jetstar.com for booking, starting from US$258 one-way for a JetSaver Light fare between HCMC-Sydney and from US$98 for a single HCMC-Darwin trip.
In related news, Vietnam Airlines has added Phnom Penh and Siem Reap to its promotional packages called "Free & Easy" that are applicable until the end of this year. The packages for passengers departing from Hanoi or HCMC to these new destinations cost from US$139 including two-way air tickets and hotel accommodation plus breakfast and airport transfers.
The Free & Easy packages start, from US$199 to Thailand, from US$209 to Singapore, from US$239 to Malaysia, from US$229 to Guangzhou and from US$339 to Hong Kong.
Passengers from Vietnam's other cities including Dalat, Hue and Nha Trang will have to pay an additional US$50 for the Free&Easy packages, which are preferred by individuals and small groups of travelers.
